SUMMARY : UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS

Beginning

Rin is pissed at Shirō not taking his role seriously and not bringing Saber with him at school. She decides to kill him when school ends. She bombards him with Gand. Sounds like a machine gun.
Rider distracts them from fighting, and nails Shirō with her dagger, piercing his right arm. Rin and Archer get him out... But Archer tries to attack Shirō. Saber defends him, everyone parts.
Rider activates her Blood Temple.Blood Fort Andromeda on the school. Caster and Kuzuki react, Kuzuki kills Rider by crushing her neck, Caster summons her Dragon Fang Warriors.
Rin & Shirō run away from the school.
At night, Shirō is manipulated by Caster to come to the Ryuudou-ji.
Caster tries to suck out Shirō's mana, starting by disabling all his magic circuits.
While Saber distracts Assassin, Archer slips into the temple and saves Shirō.
Caster vs Archer : Caster flies up, bombards him with her magic bursts.
Archer and Shirō insults each other like idiots while running around to dodge Caster's laser spam.
Archer counters her by throwing Kanshō & Bakuya like boomerangs, and shoots a Caladbolg, but fakes it by dispelling it just before making it explode.
Caster, wounded, lands and Archer gets to her ; but he doesn't kill her, saying he doesn't want to fight right now.
Rin plans an ambush on Kuzuki who she suspects of being the Master she was detecting at school.
She tries to Gand him at night, but Caster deflects the attack, proving Rin's theory ; fight, during which Shirō Traces Kanshō & Bakuya, and Kuzuki proves his worth against Saber. Kuzuki and Caster escape.
Rin and Shirō have a date, and when they return, Caster has taken Fujimura hostage ; while Shirō uses an Command Spell to stop Saber from attacking and endangering Fuji-nee, Caster stabs Saber with the Rule Breaker, breaking the contract between Shirō and Saber.
Caster immediately forms a contract with Saber herself, gaining Saber's Command Spells.
Shirō collapses from the strain of Tracing Kanshō & Bakuya by forcing his second Magic Circuit, Rin takes him in her room, where Shirō discovers Rin's pendant that Archer gave back.
He thinks she had two of them, and understands she's the one who saved him from Lancer's stab in the heart.
Rin and Archer go to the Church where Caster and Kuzuki hide to try and rescue Saber, Shirō wakes up and follows them.
At Ryuudou-ji, Archer simply walks up to Caster and say he's with her now.
Caster Rule Breaks Archer, destroying Rin's contract with him ; Rin has no choice but to walk away.
Shirō witnesses it all, and sees Kuzuki waiting for Rin at the exit ; he knows she will die as soon as she gets out, so he jumps in and saves her.
Kuzuki vs Shirō, Rin vs Caster : Rin is getting owned in the magic battle, but surprises Caster by... punching the shit out of her ; Kuzuki slips out from continuously destroying Shirō's Tracings and stops Rin's punches. Archer talks Caster into letting Shirō and Rin go away ; Caster is clueless about Archer's behaviour.
While walking back, Rin and Shirō discuss about why Shirō came to save Rin ; he mentions the pendant he brought back to his home, Rin finds that mighty odd and starts thinking about it without saying anything.
Rin is really grateful to Shirō for coming to her rescue, but doesn't understand why he can't value his own life since he knew very well that it was a suicide battle. Shirō mentions saving as many people as he can, not being able to look at someone who needs help without reacting, and wanting to thank her for resurrecting him from Lancer's attack.
The next day, Rin and Shirō want to ask Ilya for help against the Caster/Archer/Kuzuki team ; in the castle, they find Berserker being destroyed by Gilgamesh's Enkidu.
When Gilgamesh is about to kill Ilya, Shirō tries to stop him, and Shinji tells Gilgamesh not to skewer Shirō.
Berserker dies by breaking out of the chain and jumping in front of Gilgamesh's attack to protect Ilya ; but afterward, Gilgamesh still rips Ilya's heart out.
Gilgamesh goes away, and as Rin and Shirō are at loss as to how they will get rid of Caster's team, Lancer comes in, saying that he will help them. Shirō warns Lancer about not getting anywhere near Rin, which makes her angry to hear him talk so bluntly as if they were together.
Rin, Shirō and Lancer then go back to the Church ; Archer is waiting for them in front, and Lancer stays to face him while Rin and Shirō will get in. Lancer's aerial thrown Gae Bolg is blocked by Archer's Rho Aias.
Saber emerges and Rin immediately forms a contract with her.
Archer comes in and UBWs Caster. Kuzuki chooses to remain and even though Caster's enchantments run out when she dies, he still stands to face Archer - who cuts him in two with Kanshō & Bakuya in an instant.
So Archer was really lying when he said he was teaming up with Caster. Problem is, he DOES want to kill Shirō. Saber stands to defend him and Rin.
Archer activates his UBW and explains how he can duplicate any weapon he has seen, pointing out he knows Saber's holy sword : if Saber uses it, he will copy it and the colliding blasts will wipe out any witness, which is, Rin and Shirō.
As Archer threatens Rin, Saber's master, Shirō accepts Archer's deal : Saber won't barge in, Archer takes Rin hostage and Shirō will come for a fight to death in Ilya's castle, when he will be back in shape.
In the Einsbern caslte, Shinji shows up with Gilgamesh and wants Archer to give him Rin, which Archer refuses for the time being. Gilgamesh calls Archer a "faker".
The next evening, Shirō, Saber and Lancer come to the Einsbern castle, and while Shirō will face Archer, Saber remains on the side to watch over the fight and Lancer will find and save Rin.
Lancer finds Rin, punches Shinji out, and Kotomine comes in. Rin realizes he is the 7th Magus, Master of Lancer.
Lancer learns of Kotomine's plans to use Rin as a core to the Grail, and refuses to kill her, saying Kotomine will have to use one of his Command Spells to force him - Lancer adds that he will definitely kill him afterward.
Kotomine uses his Command Spell to make Lancer kill himself. However, Lancer's has that "Battle Continuation" ability, meaning he is still able to move around a bit when dying, and when Kotomine raises his hand to finish Rin, his heart gets pierced by Gae Bolg.
Shinji tries to boast at the dying Lancer and Rin at how he survived Kotomine, Rin points out he still got manipulated too easily and punches him, Shinji tries to call Gilgamesh... Who doesn't come.
Lancer, still up, stabs Shinji in the shoulder, Shinji runs away. Rin thanks Lancer and says she appreciates men like him. Lancer likes women like Rin who stand up for themselves too.
Lancer uses his Fire Rune to burn the place down.
During his fight, Shirō still gets severe strains while Tracing K&B and a Durandal over and again.
Archer, while fighting, explains how he turned like that : his ideals to save many people, to be an ally of justice, only got him to be an "ally of men", men who ended up betraying him. Shirō also catches glimpses of Archer's dreams and visions, of an empty battlefield.
Generally, Archer's problem is that... He's nothing but a cleaner. His wish was to be a hero to save people, not to kill them.
Omae ni wa makenai. Dareka ni makeru no wa ii. Kedo, jibun ni wa makerarenai !
I can't lose to you. I might lose to anyone, but I'm not losing to myself !
In the end, Shirō's determination doesn't waver, even after facing all the despair Archer went through even though he had the same dreams, since he is the same person.
That determination and firm belief that this path is definitely not wrong, end up having Archer hesitate too much : in the end, he lowers his sword and lets Shirō pierce him with his weapon.
Gilgamesh barges in and swordspam the team, Archer protects them and gets skewered.
Gilgamesh explains why he's still there and how the Grail hold Angra Mainyu, all the Evil of the World, and how the Grail is nothing but a weapon. Rin says it's stupid for a King to rule on a place where there is no one alive.
The fire from Lancer's Rune catches up and Gilgamesh walks away.
Gilgamesh catches up with Shinji in the forest and turns his body into the Grail by planting it, Ilya's heart, in him. Litterally.
Rin, Saber and Shirō are back home, and enjoying their last evening together - after the fight they're planning for the next day, the War will be over and they will have to destroy the Grail, if it really is the Evil Gilgamesh described.
During the night, Shirō figures out that he's the only one who has the technical ability to face Gilgamesh, since he can copy any weapon. But he knows he won't be able to keep up, since his whole body already throbs painfully when Tracing K&B.
He asks Rin, who confirms that he if wants to use the same ability as Archer, Reality Marble (which she says he will instinctively know) he needs a lot of mana... And, uh, explains how he can get that.
Shirō feels weird because it isn't really the time for that, and even though he does like her, he can't do that just for such a reason ; but Rin says she also does like him, so in the end, everything's fine, everyone is happy. Well, Rin isn't too much in the end - Shirō was a bit too painful and rough ;_; you beast, you.
In the night, Saber wonders if she will remember all of it and makes Shirō promise him and Rin will come back safely.
The plan is to have, before the morning, Saber go first and fight Gilgamesh, while Rin and Shirō will go for the Grail. After they retrieve it, Shirō will replace Saber against Gilgamesh with his Reality Marble. Saber will then destroy the Grail.
After Saber goes off first, Rin tells Shirō that with how she had to split her mana between Shirō and Saber, Saber will be able to use her Holy Sword only once - which will be, to destroy the Grail. Not only she will only be able to slow Gilgamesh down and let Shirō beat him, but she will also disappear once she uses Excalibur on the Grail.
As Saber reaches the Gates of the Ryuudouji... Assassin is still there :o While normal Servants are the protectors of their Master, Assassin says he's still there because he is the protector of the gate :o Weird you say ? Yeah. Although, he adds that he will disappear in the morning no matter what. finally, he says he has no wish for the Grail and no reason to fight (he reveals his name as well as his nature)...
however, if his existence had a meaning, it would be "now". Fight.
Meanwhile, Shirō and Rin come across the big pile of abominable flesh at least 30 meters long that is the Grail, which goes "diediediediedie" in their head.
While they figure out Shinji is in the center, Gilgamesh shows up, making Rin wonder who Saber is fighting. Gilgamesh is annoyed to hear that Saber isn't here in the end.
Rin decides to go for the Grail while Shirō will have to hold Gilgamesh as well as he can. Rin can't watch Sakura's
brother, and Shirō's friend, die like that. As Rin jumps toward the Grail, Gilgamesh laughs and asks if they plan on killing him by making him laugh to death, which makes Rin and Shirō angry.
Gilgamesh shoots a sword at Rin, and Shirō, foreseeing the move, deflects it by throwing a Kanshō - first time he could do a distant Tracing. Thank Rin's "backup".
Tōsaka ni te wo dashitakattara, mazu ore wo taoshi yagare ! If you want Tōsaka, you'll have to beat me first !
Meanwhile, Saber notes that Assassin was able to figure out the length of Excalibur even hidden under the Barrier of the wind King. which she just lifts to fight him fully.
Rin reaches the flesh of the Grail, which appears to be alive, and heavily gives the same feeling as a Servant (since it really is, in fact, Avenger).
In the Ryuudouji, Shirō more or less keeps up against Gilgamesh's swords with his Tracing, and Gil teases him, calling him Faker again.
Shirō has already copied 17 of Gilgamesh's weapons. Though up to now, he can't do much better than reproducing the shape and barely counters each of Gil's weapons, painfully. When Gilgamesh takes out Ea, he figures out it really is beyond his Tracing abilities.
Sasaki's Tsubame Gaeshi fails by an inch, and as he prepares another attack, Saber counters him and wins.
Shirō gets Kairiken'd (Ea, Enuma Elish). Thinks about Archer, and his own ideals. I'm a fake ? So what biatch, my body is made of hard blades !
Gil takes Ea away, saying he should only use it on Saber, not on a faker like Shirō ; so he just Gates of Babylons him. Saber protects him. But... Nah, you step aside, I'm the one who will kick Gilgamesh alone. You're the only one who can destroy the Grail, so you go lend Rin a hand.
Shirō apologize for not being able to save Saber, though. That Grail isn't the one she wished for.
Gil laughs again. Shirō evaluates his Traced NP to roughly 30.
Shirō begins the UBW, Gil GoB him, and... A 7-layer Rho Aias appears to defend Shirō from the GoB (HAI ARCHER).
Shirō performs a successful UBW : Shirō's world, a world with nothing alive, full of swords. UBW vs GoB swordspam gallore !
Meanwhile, Saber learns that she... is useless. Rin refuses to have her come into the flesh of the Grail because if she dies, they won't be able to destroy it. Bah, Rin has found Shinji. But, uh, she can't get out.
Archer goes STFU BIATCH NO CRYBABY from above and UBWs the Grail... with Rin and Shinji still inside. Well, in the end, it rips up a way out for Rin.
Saber EXCALIBURNS the Grail. This is the end of Saber's fight. In the end, she does give up her wish, after watching over the confrontation between Shirō and his heroic self : Shirō's reply is the same as hers.
Meanwhile, Shirō is going wild, busting Gilgamesh's sorry behind, forcing him on close combat sword fight.
Gil, really mad, starts getting Ea out and... get his arm CHOPPED OFF by Kanshō and Bakuya. SASERU KA !!
Suddenly, the UBW disappears... And Gil starts getting sucked from the inside. It's the Grail, eating him away.
Shirō starts staggering again, and Gil throws his Chain of Heaven Enkidu around Shirō's neck to try to escape the Grail... !
Archer comes in "yeah, it's your opponent, but what the hell" and SHOOTS GIL IN THE FUCKING HEAD.

Morning. Rin wants Archer to make another contract with her, but he replies he's fine, now. His purpose here is gone. So he disappears. By the way, in the end, he still did his job as a cleaner from afar, busting the Grail and Gilgamesh.
Back at school a month later. Issei is a bit sad that Kuzuki left without any notice, but thinks it's normal, as he came in the same way. Fujimura is sad too, as it seems they were kinda tea partners.
Rin makes an extra effort to piss Issei off by making sure he understands she and Shirō are together.
After class, Rin and Shirō stay a bit. Rin tells Shirō she plans to go to London and get into the Magic Association at the Big Ben.
She should have the possibility to take on an apprentice, too. Will Shirō come with her ? You know I can't reply to that, and you already know the answer anyway.

[Alternate ending : Happy End - Sunny Day
If you could built up enough "affection points" with Saber, she... remains alive after shooting the Grail.
Nothing too interesting in that ending, Rin explains that technically, Saber is a normal Familiar and not a Servant anymore, thanks to how Shirō made her actually want to stay. Saber is OK with living in that era since she still got her reply by watching Shirō fighting Archer.]

Epilogue : Answer
Archer, fighting Shirō...
People he couldn't save, himself he couldn't save. What he believes in, what he believed in. What did I become, what was I before ?
This boy won't be stopped by himself. always raising his sword for what he believes in. Even if he knows he can't win. Even if there is no meaning in it. Even if he is not strong enough. He laughs it off.
That ideal was beautiful. That heart was faked, but what it believed in was beautiful.
Archer lowers his blade.
"EMIYA" was cursed...
But I wasn't wrong.
